Privacy Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

Barber AA ("we", "us") runs the Barber AA barbershop at 1522 Lakewood Rd W, Edmonton, and the Barber AA app, a digital loyalty card: five paid haircuts earn a sixth free. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your choices.

We collect only what signing in and the punch card need. We don't show ads, don't sell your information, don't track you across other apps or websites, and don't use your information for marketing.

What we collect

Account information

Your email address and whether it has been verified.
Your name, if you provide it or your sign-in provider shares it.
Your phone number, only if you choose to add one in your profile. It lets the barber find your card if your phone is flat.
How you signed in (Apple, Google or email), and a random account ID created by our sign-in service.

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email", we only receive the relay address Apple gives us.

Loyalty card information

Your punch count and how many free haircuts you have redeemed.
A record of each punch and free haircut, with its date and time and the barber who recorded it.
Temporary QR codes. Each is a random number, valid for about one minute, and deleted shortly afterwards.

Staff. If you work at Barber AA, your email address is on our staff list so the app can give you access to the scanner. We record which staff member added each punch or free haircut.

Camera. Used only on staff devices, only to scan customers' QR codes. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.

App integrity. The app uses Apple's App Attest, through Firebase App Check, to confirm requests come from the genuine app. This checks the app, not you, and is not used to identify or track you.

How we use it

To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
To show your punch card and history, and let staff add punches and redeem free haircuts.
To let staff find your card by name, phone or email when you can't show your code.
To prevent fraud, such as reusing a code or adding punches without a real visit.

Who can see it

You can see your own profile, card and history. Barber AA staff can see customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers (if added), cards and history, to run the loyalty programme. Other customers cannot see your information.

We don't sell or share your information with anyone else. The app is built on these service providers, who process data on our behalf:

Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores your account and loyalty data. Google processes information such as IP addresses to provide secure sign-in. See Firebase's privacy information.
Apple and Google handle sign-in when you choose Sign in with Apple or Google.

Your data may be stored and processed outside Canada, on Google's servers.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent:

Your name, email, phone number and sign-in are deleted.
Your punch card and any unused free haircut are lost.
If you signed in with Apple, the app's access to your Apple ID is revoked.

We keep an anonymous record of past punches and free haircuts, with nothing linking it to you, so the shop's totals stay correct. If you sign up again, you start with a new, empty card.

Children

The app isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

You can view and correct your name and phone number in the app, and delete your account at any time. To ask about the information we hold, or to make a complaint, contact us below. We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
